New Boats:

The Class presently has three recognized builders.  Molds for fiberglass construction are currently in Sweden and in Maine and the first new wooden hull since the 1980s was recently launched in Nova Scotia (pictured at right).

  • The European Class builder is Tjorns Yachtservice on the west coast of Sweden.  This yard is owned and operated by active IOD sailors who have built seven hulls to the exacting one design specifications of the class. Contact: Phone: 0304-661394 EMail: info@yachtservice.se

Fiberglass Gentleman's Day-Sailor on Buzzards Bay

posted Jun 9, 2014, 10:20 AM by Danielle Lawson

For sale is my International One Design Sailboat (IOD) . Built in 1988 by Able Marine in Southwest Harbor Maine and sailed in the Northeast Harbor fleet. She was moved to the Fishers Island Fleet in 2008 and raced there until I purchased her in 2010, and moved her to the Buzzards Bay area. Originally set up as a one design race boat complete with custom pedestal in the center of the cockpit to handle most running rigging, I have spared no expense in transforming her into a sleek, fast Gentleman's Day-Sailor. She is easily solo-sailed or can be a great platform for a crew. She can remain a wonderful Gentleman's Day-Sailor or with very little effort can be legally raced in any IOD class race or regatta.

Encore (IOD #5) ~ Bermuda Fleet ~ $30,000

posted Aug 22, 2010, 1:32 PM by Danielle Lawson   [ updated Aug 22, 2010, 5:39 PM ]

Originally #13 "Black Magic" (the first boat out of the Bermuda mold) the boat was extensively rebuilt and sailed again in Race Week 2000 and has raced regularly since.

Fibreglass with wood cabin and combings by Bruce Dyson, aluminum mast, boom and spinnaker pole.  One set of racing sails (to fit the LIS rig used in Bermuda) and one set of cruising sails.

Encore is currently rigged with the single spreader LIS rig but may be purchased without this rig.   Estimated shipping and cradle build costs from Bermuda to New Jersey are approximately $8000 – will vary dependent on shipping of the rig.
